Conservation Voters Release Legislative Score Card

The Washington State Conservation Voters have released the 2007-2008 Legislative Score Card. The Document link is at the bottom of the home page and can be accessed by clicking the title of this post.

Senator Chris Marr of Spokane has been awarded the 2008 Legislator of the Year award "for his tenacious pursuit of real solutions to the climate crisis." Senator Marr introduced legislation that allows planners to use the Growth Management Act as a land use tool to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Washington Conservation Voters has activists located in each county across the state.Please see their website for a list of local chapters.


Governor of the State of Washington

The Washington Conservation Voters have endorsed Governor Christine Gregoire in her bid for re-election.

Statewide endorsements:

The WCV has endorsed two candidates for statewide office, Republican incumbent Sam Reed for secretary of state and Democrat Peter Goldmark for state lands commissioner.

Legislative Endorsements:

WCV has endorsed Senators Craig Pridemore (D-49) and Phil Rockefeller (D-23) as well as Representatives Tom Campbell (R-2), Mary Lou Dickerson (D-36), Hans Dunshee (D-44), John McCoy (D-38), Eric Pettigrew (D-37) and Skip Priest (R-30). Complete list:

Republican Endorsements:

WCV has endorsed Republican state Rep. Tom Campbell - WCV writes, "Campbell shepherded bills dealing with environmental toxics bills in this year’s legislative session."

WCV also endorsed Republican state Rep. Skip Priest. WCV states that "Priest is the most influential Republican voice in Olympia on environmental issues, a role that he plays well and one which Washington Conservation Voters is proud to endorse."

Washington State Supreme Court Candidates:

WCV has also endorsed are Justices Mary Fairhurst, Charles Johnson and Debra Stephens for the Washington State Supreme Court.
